Summertime is almost halfway through!
After graduation aftermath settled down, I was lucky enough to be able to take a two-week vacation to the family house in Santa Fe, NM, where I spent time drinking margaritas, relaxing, watching my grandmother pick apricots, and finishing up the Bubble Child book project! I'm very excited to see how the whole book comes together. It looks and reads fabulously as pages.
While I've been busily looking for an additional job, I am also continuing to pick up some freelancing gigs. On the horizon: collaborating with my friend Risa on a children's book she wrote. Stay tuned for more details.
Hint: there will be bunnies.

End of the Year and Freelancing
Last night's First Thursday was wonderful! Thank you to all who made it out. The show unfortunately comes down over the weekend, but I've still got my website up where the photos can be viewed or a copy of the book can be purchased.
On the freelance front I'm very close to unveiling the fliers for Carte Blanche, and super excited to be working on a commission for the cover for an upcoming gluten and nut-free cookbook by chef Erica Von Trapp, Bubble Child. You can check out her website here!
More to be revealed soon,
Amanda

Hours of the Stevens Building for the BFA Thesis Show!
Besides the first Thursday opening in June, the work of all the PNCA thesis students (including mine, which can be found in the Stevens building on campus) can be viewed during the normal summer hours of campus, which are as follows:
Monday-Saturday: 8am-10pm
Sunday: 9am-6pm
However, Monday the 28th, all buildings will be closed for the holiday.
The exhibit comes down the weekend after first Thursday, so you've got a few weeks left!

Graduation is tomorrow!
In addition to passing my defense speech, I got an A on my transcript for my thesis and received a High Pass on my paper.
Tomorrow, I graduate art school.
Following the 4 PM ceremony, the BFA Thesis Show opens, around 6 PM campus-wide.
It's the end of an era but the beginning of a new one, and I already have so many projects I want to do.
Besides the fliers for Carte Blanche, which are coming along nicely, I am in the pre-planning stages for a series of portraits of drag performers! Stay tuned for more.

The finish line is in sight!
So, as I've been terrible at keeping up with this blog the past few weeks, here is a list of newsworthy things:
1. My thesis defense presentation was yesterday, and I passed! Once I finish and turn in my final paper, the project will be totally done.
2. As part of my project, I created a website where you can purchase a color printed copy of the book I created, "Wake Up: A Collection of Paintings," or download it for 5.00 to be read on a Kindle™. You can also view hi-res scans of the images. The website can be found at the following link: http://www.amandarussel.weebly.com
3. The show of all the thesis students' work opens after graduation, at PNCA on May 20th.
4. Until the end of April, I have some work hanging at both the New Seasons in Sellwood and the Cup and Saucer Cafe on Mississippi Avenue.
5. Excited about my next project, for when all the thesis and school-ending craziness starts to die down: creating fliers for my brilliant friend Jessie's food cart! I'm going to plug her here, because it is truly some of the best food you've ever had, so you should go check it out: https://www.facebook.com/carteblanchefoodcart.
